Qualifications

  • BTEC Level 3 National Foundation Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment
  • One of the following Level 4 qualifications:
    • BTEC Level 4 HNC in Architectural Technology
    • BTEC Level 4 HNC in Building Services Engineering (HVAC)
    • BTEC Level 4 HNC in Civil Engineering
    • BTEC Level 4 HNC in Construction Management
    • BTEC Level 4 HNC in Modern Methods of Construction
  • Certificate of Apprenticeship

Course duration/location

The recommended time for completion of this course is four years. You will attend College at Coutanchez Campus one day a week for off-the-job training.


Course Entry

Apprenticeships are available to all.

Levels 3 & 4 - Four-year apprenticeship:

Candidates with a minimum of five GCSEs (including English, maths and science) at grade C/4 or above, or a Level 2 qualification in a construction-related subject area. Applicants with prior knowledge through work experience will also be considered.

Level 4 - Two-year apprenticeship:

Candidates with a minimum of five years’ industry experience in a relevant job role and a minimum of five GCSEs (including English, maths and science) at grade C/4 or above, or a Level 3 qualification in a construction-related subject area.

If you have not achieved maths or English at C/4/Level 2, you will study these subjects alongside your apprenticeship.

  • Construction design
  • Construction technology
  • Health and safety in construction

Optional units:

  • Graphical detailing in construction
  • Building regulations & control in construction
  • Management of a construction project

Course Assessment

Assessment throughout the apprenticeship includes:

  • Written reports and assignments
  • In-class tests
  • Screencasts
  • Creation of design documents

This apprenticeship will prepare you to meet the demands of employers in the construction and built environment sector. Upon completion, you can study towards the following degree courses:
