New Head of English & Maths

Michael Storer recently joined TGI College as Head of English, Maths and Adult Skills, bringing a wealth of experience from his time teaching at a large sixth form college in the UK.
With a background in both GCSE resit and A Level teaching as well as adult learning delivery and student support management, Michael is committed to enhancing the educational experience for all learners across the island.

In his previous management roles, Michael successfully oversaw cross-college study support initiatives as well as leading the Learning Resource Centre. His work in promoting reading and oral literacy has significantly contributed to improving student qualification outcomes.

As he takes on his new role at TGI College, Michael is committed to:

  • Advancing the community literacy and numeracy strategy to support learners of all backgrounds.
  • Enhancing student engagement in English and Maths, ensuring these subjects are accessible, industry-relevant and purposeful.
  • Building strong connections with local industries and employers to highlight the importance of English and Maths in career success.
  • Supporting the growth of local talent and providing adults with the qualifications needed for career progression.
  • Raising the profile of The Guernsey Institute College as a leader in English and Maths education, developing an international network of excellence.

Michael is excited to contribute to the development of a world-leading learning environment and to make a meaningful impact on students, employers and the wider community.
