- Pearson BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care
- Certificate of Apprenticeship
Course duration/location
The recommended time for completion of this course is two years. You will attend College at Delancey Campus for one day a week for off-the-job training.
Course Entry
Apprenticeships are available to all.
Candidates need to be 18 years or over and will be assessed for suitability using a range of diagnostic tests.
If you have not achieved maths or English at D/3/Level 1, you will study these subjects to support progression and achievement of your chosen apprenticeship. Failure to complete maths and English will prevent progression between apprenticeship levels or achieving your overall apprenticeship.

Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care Year 1
Course Content
You will complete nine mandatory units:
- Communication in care settings
- Personal development in care settings
- Equality and Inclusion in care settings
- Duty of care
- Safeguarding and protection in care settings
- Responsibilities of a care worker
- Implementing person-centred approaches in care settings
- Health, safety and wellbeing in care settings
- Handling information in care settings
You will also complete a selection of optional units that could include topics such as:
- Dementia care
- Infection control
- Supporting individuals to manage pain and discomfort
- Supporting individuals to meet personal care needs
- Supporting individuals to eat and drink
A supportive and inclusive learning environment near Delancey Park.
Course Assessment
You will be assessed throughout the duration of the apprenticeship on a portfolio of evidence that could include:
- Practical observations by assessor
- Authentic statements and witness testimonies from work colleagues, users of services and their families
- Personal statements and reflective accounts
- Professional discussions
- Other evidence produced from activities in and outside the classroom
Course Destination
After successfully completing your Level 2 apprenticeship, you will be prepared for roles such as Health Care Assistants or Personal Assistants working with adults within the industry.
The opportunity to progress onto a Level 3 apprenticeship programme is currently being developed with further information becoming available in due course.
