Performers College team visits PRCPA

Local students enjoyed free workshops from specialist UK performing arts college

We were delighted to welcome a team from from Performers College to The Princess Royal Centre for Performing Arts to run free island-wide workshops and also to hold auditions for their musical theatre, dance and acting higher education courses.

Performers College is a specialist UK performing arts college, part of BIMM University, offering vocational training in Musical Theatre, Dance, and Acting, focusing on industry connections, diverse skill development (including film & digital media), and producing versatile graduates for West End, tours, TV, and cruise ships, with opportunities for degree and diploma qualifications.

A total of 13 students from across Guernsey and Jersey auditioned including 10 of our own TGI Performing Arts students. The experience of being able to audition on island was invaluable.

One student said: "I feel incredibly grateful to have been offered this opportunity, and I strongly hope other students following my year will be as lucky to receive the same opportunity! It is so important that young people are able to access certain experiences in the industry without having to worry about travel or money."

Kate Kellaway who is Co-campus manager of the PRCPA and a lecturer on the UAL Performing and Production Arts courses added: “I couldn’t be more happy that the weekend was such a success. Performers College is one of the top providers of Performing Arts training in the UK and many of its graduates go on to successful careers in the industry. To have them come to Guernsey to specifically workshop and audition our students feels wonderful. Out of our current second year cohort of 15, 10 students auditioned and I am so proud of them all. The feedback I received from our visitors was that our students were well prepared, polite and showed great levels of skill.”

The staff from Performers College had such a positive experience here in Guernsey that they have already confirmed that they wish to return next year and we all hope the weekend can be even bigger and better than this one!
