Leighanne is a Registered Adult Nurse having completed her training through TGI University Centre in 2009. Since qualifying, she has gained extensive experience across a range of clinical settings. She began her career working for 6 years on the acute surgical wards, before moving into a role within the Quality and Safety Team, where she worked for 4 years as the Clinical Audit Specialist Nurse.
Leighanne has a specialist interest in Sexual and Reproductive Health and began working at Choices in 2014 in the role of Senior Contraceptive Nurse, later being promoted to Lead Nurse in 2017. Alongside her position at Choices, Leighanne worked for Public Health and the School Nursing Team, as the Sexual Health and Wellbeing Lead Nurse. Leighanne is also a current member of the Choices "Board of Directors".
In 2022, Leighanne commenced her role at The Guernsey Institute University Centre as a Lecturer, and later that year was awarded a Postgraduate Certificate in Professional Education (PGCert). She is passionate about educating students and supporting their progression in both the practical and academic settings, taking an active role as both Academic Assessor and Academic Advisor. She is committed to supporting and inspiring students to reach their full potential.
Leighanne is also currently the Admissions Lead for the Nursing Programmes, playing a key role in the recruitment of new student cohorts. She leads on selection processes, ensuring that prospective students are well-suited to the demands, values, and professional standards for a career in Nursing.
