The Guernsey Institute has formalised its collaborative efforts with Highlands College Jersey and University College Isle of Man.
In a significant step towards enhancing education across the Crown Dependencies, The Guernsey Institute has formalised its collaborative efforts with Highlands College Jersey and University College Isle of Man. Last week, Louise Misselke, Principal of TGI College and TGI Apprenticeships - part of The Guernsey Institute, joined Jo Terry Marchant (Highlands College) and Jesamine Kelly (University College Isle of Man) to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), outlining how the institutions will work together to benefit students, staff, and the wider communities across the islands.
This partnership builds on years of collaborative efforts and underscores a shared commitment to improving education. By working together, the three institutions aim to leverage technology to enhance teaching and learning, address sector-specific higher education demands, and foster knowledge sharing among staff. The partnership will also focus on creating joint initiatives, such as pan-island skills competitions and research conferences for teaching staff, all designed to enrich the student experience and boost professional development opportunities for educators.
The MOU paves the way for new initiatives that will benefit the islands’ communities, providing a platform to share expertise, meet the evolving educational needs of key industries, and create innovative opportunities for students.
Louise Misselke commented, "This formalised relationship will enable us to work closely with our partners in Jersey and the Isle of Man, ensuring that we can offer our students and staff an enhanced educational experience. Together, we can address shared challenges and explore new opportunities for growth, benefiting not just our institutions but the wider communities we serve."
As part of this collaboration, the institutions will explore the possibility of hosting joint student competitions and initiatives to encourage skill development, alongside other opportunities to create a richer, more connected learning environment across the islands.
The Guernsey Institute remains committed to offering high-quality education and training to meet the needs of Guernsey’s workforce. By partnering with fellow institutions in the Crown Dependencies, The Guernsey Institute continues its mission to provide students and professionals with the skills they need to succeed in an ever-evolving world.
