Our journey to redefine post-16 education on the island continues, following the recent tender for the commencement of the demolition phase for our new campus at Les Ozouets—a pivotal moment for the development of The Guernsey Institute.

The Committee for Education, Sport & Culture has restarted the tender process to find a contractor for the demolition of the old St Peter Port school building, fuelled by a successful amendment to the Government Work Plan by the Policy & Resources Committee.

This initiative signifies more than the construction of new buildings; it heralds the unification of Guernsey's post-16 educational offerings. We are creating a synergistic environment where students can access a diverse range of academic and vocational pathways, all within a state-of-the-art learning environment. This effort is a testament to the island's commitment to fostering a future where education transcends individual achievement, aiming instead to build a community that learns, grows, and succeeds together. It embodies a vision of education where every student is supported to reach their full potential, in an environment that champions innovation, collaboration, and excellence.

The demolition is scheduled to begin in May 2024, with the construction of the new campus set to follow shortly thereafter. The Princess Royal Centre for the Performing Arts, also located on the Les Ozouets site, will continue to operate throughout this period, ensuring that the arts remain a vibrant part of the island's educational landscape.
